Since its formation in 1969, ZZ Top has been recognized as a group with world-class status and as the most iconic American band of all time. The band holds the distinction of being among the few rock bands still composed of its original recording members. Consistency is a hallmark of ZZ Top with the Gibbons-Hill-Beard trio unchanged since the band's founding 40 years ago, and still going strong today.

ZZ Top reached peak commercial success in the 1970s and 1980s, scoring many hit songs during that era, including “Gimme All Your Lovin’”, “Legs”, “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Cheap Sunglasses.” The genius of ZZ Top is that they’re reverential about the blues but loose and funny about the subject matter of their songs. Their songs are laden with pop-culture references, sexual double entendres and the determined pursuit of a good time. They have written about fast cars, fishnet stockings, sharp clothes, TV dinners, and cheap sunglasses.  From the beginning they’ve taken a hard-rocking power-trio approach to the blues, cultivating a new audience for it with superior musicianship as well as attitude, style and some devilishly funny songs.
